IDF Transfers Humanitarian Aid From Gaza Flotilla to Gaza Strip
|
IDF forces unload the humanitarian cargo from the Gaza Flotilla and bring the aid through the Kerem Shalom crossing. An average of 10000 tons of aid a week are imported into the Gaza Strip in coordination with international organizations through the land crossings. However, there remains a maritime closure on the strip as Hamas continues to smuggle weapons through tunnels for use against Israeli civilians. Flotilla attempts to reach Gaza Strip
|
Israel plans to stop a flotilla from heading to Gaza with 10000 tons of supplies and aid. Pro-Palestinian activists intend on breaking a three year blockade of the Hamas ran Gaza strip. The officials said if the flotilla of eight ships does not turn back, the boats will be hauled to an Israeli port, the activists sent back to their countries and the supplies transferred to Gaza by land. Craig Corrie says that the people of Gaza desperately need these supplies just to survive. Craig Corrie says that he is honored that the campaign is in memory of his late daughter Rachel Corrie. |

For a second day, Israeli aircraft have pounded what they say are Hamas targets in Gaza. The death toll has risen to at least 280, among them women and children. Hamas has vowed not to cave in, but Israel's operation could soon escalate. Tanks have massed at the Gazan border, and Ehud Olmert's office says military reservists are being mobilised. The UN Security Council has demanded an immediate end to the violence, and Egypt is trying to broker a ceasefire. But the airs raids are continuing, as Clayton Swisher reports. |
