How to Introduce a pet rat to water
|
Please read: This video should help to show a good way to introduce your pet rats to water and one day could result in them diving and swimming in it :). However, it's important to understand that some pet rats will just not like water. Your success will vary depending on your individual critter(s). This description runs along-side the video so please read: Important Rules: * Never place your rat in the water, if your rat has not chosen to go in itself then it will instinctively just want to get straight back out again. This will not be a good water experience and can really set progress back. * Always use fresh, clean water and clean the tubs out well before each use. * It's really important to take the increase in depth slowly. Base it on your rats progress so that you are going at their speed not your own. They will go in deeper water in time but if you make it too deep too early they will just not go in and you will end up taking steps backwards. * Its again important that your rat can at all times get out if they want to. So, if the sides of the tub are too high for the rat to EASILY jump out of, there really must be a ladder. If the rat does not have an easy route out they will feel less secure and this will lead to either not wanting to go in, or once in they will just want to get straight back out. * With the last point in mind I'm against using the bath tub as a swimming place for rats. The Rat Children - Pakistan
|
November 1999 How can a mere myth ruin the lives of thousands of children? In Pakistan, microcephalics-babies born with abnormally small heads-are known as 'rats' and credited with god-like powers. Believers will give them money in the hope of blessings, but unscrupulous gangs of beggars are now exploiting this ancient tradition for their own ends. They kidnap young 'rat' children - or frighten parents into handing them over-and then force them into a lifetime of begging on the streets. They are lucrative-so much so that some people allege that normal babies are benig deliberately deformed to look like microcephalics. Why else, they ask, are there so many such children in Pakistan? And until something is done to combat the myth, the helpless 'rat' children will be condemned to a life of abuse. |

One Rat Short [Complete]
|
Amazing film! is very cute. The graphics and animation was intense! www.oneratshort.com "One Rat Short" is a work of love created by Charlex Films. It began as part of the effort to grow the company's CG department but eventually became much more than that. Originally, it was entitled "labratz" and as the title might suggest it mimicked the look and sensibility of worked already pioneered by other studios. As it evolved it took on a life of its own- it became my film- or as any director of an effort like this knows our film. We decided not to use anthropomorphic animation. We decided it would take place in two worlds- one so gritty, grimy and dark that the viewer needs to peer into the screen in order to make out the images- the other a sterile, white world so brightly lit that you feel the need to turn your head away from the screen. It was also important to me to keep the film looking as real as possible. One of the techniques we used was to give a lot of the camera work a hand-held feel and to keep it a little behind the action so that the scenes didn't seem staged. Lastly and most importantly I kept the story simple and tried to give it heart. One of my favorite short films, which I saw as a child was "The Red Balloon". I think the melancholic and innocent spirit of that film inhabits "One Rat Short." Alex Weil, Director . |
